Refund & Cancellation Policy

Our services are project-based copywriting engagements, not fixed-stock purchases — this policy reflects how a scoped writing project actually gets cancelled or refunded, not a retail return.
Deposits
A deposit is required to secure your project slot and begin discovery and drafting. The deposit is applied toward the total project price; the remaining balance is due on delivery of the final, approved copy.
Cancelling before drafting starts
If you cancel after paying the deposit but before we've started drafting (i.e. during discovery/scoping), the deposit is refunded in full, less any third-party costs already incurred on your behalf (rare, and disclosed in advance if applicable).
Cancelling after drafting has started
If you cancel after a first draft has been delivered, the deposit is non-refundable — it covers the research, structuring, and drafting work already completed. Any balance beyond the deposit is not owed for work not yet delivered.
Cancelling mid-revision
If you cancel during revision rounds, you keep whatever drafts have been delivered up to that point; the deposit remains non-refundable and no further payment is due beyond what's already invoiced for work completed.
After final delivery
Once the final copy has been delivered and approved, the engagement is complete and the full project fee is due (if not already paid) or non-refundable (if already paid). "Approved" means you've confirmed the final draft in writing, or 10 business days have passed since final delivery without a revision request, whichever comes first.
Rescheduling
If your project needs to pause or move (e.g. your launch date shifts), tell us as early as possible — we'll reschedule the remaining work where our calendar allows, at no extra charge, provided the original scope doesn't change.
Disputes
If you're unhappy with a delivered draft for reasons within the original agreed scope, contact us first at support@explainercopywriter.com — most concerns are resolved through an additional revision round rather than a refund request.
